Under the soft light of the morning sun, a tiny baby monkey sits helplessly beside his mother. His eyes are heavy with sleep, but his little belly growls from hunger. He reaches toward his mother’s chest, crying out in high-pitched squeaks, hoping she will understand his need. His cries echo through the quiet jungle, so pitiful that even the wind seems to pause for a moment. But the mother monkey, tired and distracted, sits still, grooming herself and glancing away from her baby’s pleading eyes.
The baby tries again, crawling closer and tugging gently at her fur, his small hands trembling with effort. He wants warmth, comfort, and most of all — milk. Yet his mother’s reaction remains cold and indifferent. She shifts slightly, turning her body away, as if ignoring his desperate call. The baby’s cries grow louder, filled with confusion and sadness. He doesn’t understand why the one he trusts most refuses to feed him.
After many attempts, his voice becomes weak. His head droops, and his eyelids begin to close. Exhausted from crying and hunger, the tiny monkey curls up near his mother’s side. He feels the warmth of her fur but not the nourishment he craves. His breathing slows as sleep takes over, his small chest rising and falling with faint rhythm. The cries fade into silence, leaving only the sound of rustling leaves above.
The mother glances down for a moment, watching her baby drift into sleep. Perhaps she feels a trace of guilt or perhaps she is simply following instinct — teaching her baby to be strong, or waiting until her own body feels ready to nurse again. In the wild, survival often means making hard choices, even for mothers.
As the day goes on, the sun climbs higher, shining softly on the sleeping baby. Though his dreams may be filled with hunger and longing, he still rests close to the mother he loves, hoping that when he wakes, things will be different. His small world is built on trust and waiting — waiting for that one tender moment when his mother will finally pull him close, letting him drink the warm milk that gives him comfort, safety, and love once again.
